Zodiac & Soul (zodiacsoul.uk) is the data controller for the limited processing described here. You can reach us through the contact page or at [email protected].
Because the site is operated from the United Kingdom, UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) apply. If you are in the EEA, the EU GDPR gives you equivalent rights.
Directly, nothing. There are no accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter, no comment section and no contact form that stores anything. We do not run Google Analytics or any other analytics package.
The eight questions and all 192 results are handled entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. Your answers are never transmitted to a server, never associated with you and never stored. Close the tab and they are gone.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data such as IP address, browser type and the page requested, in order to serve the site and protect it from attack. This is handled by Cloudflare under their own privacy policy, and we do not access these logs to identify individuals. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: keeping the site running and secure.
Zodiac & Soul sets no cookies of its own. The only cookies that can appear come from third parties, and only in the circumstances below.
We use Google AdSense. If you accept cookies, Google and its partners may set cookies to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
If you decline, the AdSense script is not loaded at all and no advertising cookies are set. You can also opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or via optout.aboutads.info.
Our lawful basis for advertising cookies is your consent, which you give through the banner and can withdraw at any time.
Some pages contain Amazon affiliate links. If you click one, Amazon may set a cookie to attribute any resulting purchase to us. This happens on Amazon's side, after you leave our site, and is governed by Amazon's privacy notice. Merely loading our pages sets no Amazon cookie.
Our donation link points to Ko-fi. If you follow it and choose to donate, Ko-fi and its payment processor handle the transaction and your payment details under their own policies. We never see your card information.
You can reopen the cookie banner and change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link, or by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
This site is free to use and is funded in two ways. It carries advertising served by Google. It also participates in the Amazon Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn fees by linking to Amazon and affiliated sites.
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. If you buy something through one of our links, we may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. This never affects which animals or books we recommend, and we do not accept payment for editorial placement.
Google, Amazon, Ko-fi and Cloudflare are international companies and may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Each maintains its own safeguards for international transfers, such as the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time.
In practice we hold no personal data about you, so there is usually nothing for us to retrieve or delete. If you believe otherwise, write to [email protected] and we will respond within one month.
For data held by Google or Amazon, those rights are exercised with them directly, since they act as controllers for their own advertising activities.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Since we collect no personal information from anyone, no such data should ever exist. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this site, please contact us.
We link out to Amazon, Ko-fi, Pinterest, Instagram and occasionally to reference sources. Once you follow a link, that site's own privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for their content or practices.
If we change how the site handles data we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes affecting cookies will also reset the consent banner so you can make a fresh choice.
This policy describes our actual practices in plain English. It is not legal advice, and if your circumstances demand a formal review you should take your own.
